Lids or brow
Waiting room · 4 threads
Working out whether it is the eyelid skin, the brow, or both, before anyone operates.
The most useful thing this forum does is slow people down at the one fork that matters: is the heaviness coming from the eyelid skin, from a brow that has quietly dropped, or from both. Remove lid skin under a low brow and you can make the tired look worse, so the threads here are readers sorting out which operation their face actually needs, and what happened when they got that call right or wrong.
Read these before you book a consultation
A pattern runs through this section: the readers who were happiest are the ones who had the brow assessed before anyone talked about removing eyelid skin. A good surgeon lifts your brow gently with a finger at the mirror and shows you how much of the hooding is lid and how much is forehead, because the honest answer changes the operation. The site's guide to the brow test before an upper blepharoplasty and what eyelid surgery will not fix set out how that assessment works.
The other recurring theme is expectations. Blepharoplasty takes years off a tired look; it does not erase fine lines, lighten pigment under the eye, or hold the brow up. Where readers arrived clear on that line, they were pleased; where they expected the surgery to do a brow lift's job as well, they were not.
What this section cannot do is tell you which it is for your face. Both of the things can be present at once, and only a surgeon examining you can weigh them. Go in with the question, not the conclusion.
